Album Credits
In the liner notes for ‘Quiet Desperation’, all people who contributed directly to the making of the record were credited as members of Tragic Chemistry. This was intended to highlight how important the support of everyone who contributes to a project like this is. Here is a more detailed list of individual contributions:
Adam Bundy co-designed the album artwork, and has been a long-time friend and artistic collaborator of Jorgenson’s.
Tom Capek arranged the strings in ‘My Summer, Your Fall’, ‘Leda and a Swan’ and ‘I Hate Needing Love’. Produced the accordion session with Eric Moon for ‘Holiday’ and performed the clavinet and tako drums in ‘Give Me Tyranny’.
Chad Clark mastered the album at Silver Sonya Mastering in Arlington, VA.
Blythe Casner sister-in-law of Jorgenson, provided emotional support and a place to stay during many of the D.C. sessions. Hand clapper in ‘Dam’ and ‘Saint Augustine’.
Elizabeth Casner wife of Jorgenson, co-executive producer and large part of the reason this album was possible. Consistent creative sounding board and muse. Hand clapper in ‘Dam’ and ‘Saint Augustine’.
Greg Figg performed all drums and percussion, including tambourine, tubular bells, claves, vibra-slap, finger cymbals, sleigh bells and various other implements. Occasional reluctant backing vocalist.
Katie Figg wife of Greg, co-executive producer and band advocate. Another major reason why this album became a reality.
Justin Ford colleague of Jorgenson, his sacrifices helped free up jorgenson to be able to string together enough time to complete the project.
Aric Johnson long-time friend and collaborator of Jorgenson, performed electric piano in ‘anhedonia’ and produced backing Kristi Krings’s backing vocals for the same song.
Aric Jorgenson wrote and produced the record, performed all guitars except as noted. Performed all male vocals except as noted, and all four harmonica notes that appear in ‘The Fear’. Played banjo on ‘Holiday’ and ‘The Fear’. Took the photos used in the album packaging and designed the album art with Adam Bundy.
Nick Karli functioned as a second engineer for many of the sessions. Offered valuable creative feedback.
Kristi Krings talented vocalist and wife of Aric Johnson. Sung additional backing vocals in ‘Anhedonia’.
Leia Manual sang virtually all female vocals and performed all keyboard, organ and piano parts except as noted elsewhere in these credits. Co-wrote many of the harmonies and keyboard parts with Jorgenson and was an important contributor to the production of the vocals.
Eric Montgomery the most musically savvy member of the band, wrote and performed all bass parts and grudgingly participated in the “vocal drone” in ‘Anhedonia’.
Eric Moon performed accordion on ‘Holiday’.
Scotty O’toole engineered and mixed the record, performed slide guitar on ‘The Fear’ and ‘Fate is Sold’. Performed acoustic guitar as part of the “ferocious acoustic guitarmy” (see technical notes) on ‘Tincture of Time’. Critical creative contributor throughout.
Nate Pauzenga second engineer for many of the sessions, played acoustic guitar in the “ferocious acoustic guitarmy”.
John Tiedeman loaned Jorgenson his sweet Orange ‘Tiny Terror’ amplifier, which was used to great effect on many tracks.
Bob Thiele consistent band advocate and public relations officer from early on.
Dana Thiele wife of Bob, another critical band advocate.
